How to Upgrade or Downgrade an Exchange Mailbox

Posted by on September 03 2015 03:14 PM

If you need to either increase or decrease your Exchange mailbox resources, you can do so with a few easy steps in the customer control panel. Upgrading or downgrading your mailbox type requires the same steps to be taken.

This article assumes that you are already familiar with how to log in to the customer control panel. If you do not know how to log in or have forgotten your password, please refer to this article first.

  • Before you can change your mailbox to a new type, you must first purchase the new mailbox resource. Instructions on doing this can be found here: How to Buy Additional Exchange Mailboxes
  • After placing your upgrade order, you can change the mailbox to the new resource type: How to Change an Exchange Mailbox Type
  • Finally, you will go back and place a downgrade order to remove the resource for the mailbox type you switched away from. This is done with the same steps as the "How to Buy Additional Exchange Mailboxes" article. The only difference is that you will be subtracting one resource unit from the old mailbox type before placing the order. This is done by using the - button which is located under the "New Limit" section to the right of your old resource type. Your account will be credited a prorated amount, depending on where you are in your billing cycle.
