What are the HostMySite Name Servers

Posted by Josh Tobiansky on September 19 2012 10:08 AM

Domain Name Servers (DNS) are the Internet's equivalent of a phone book. They maintain a directory of domain names and translate them to Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. This is necessary because, although domain names are easy for people to remember, computers or machines access websites based on IP addresses.

Your domain registrar keeps a record of which DNS servers (aka Name Servers) your domain name uses.

If you want to use HostMySite name servers, you will need to provide or update the DNS servers for your domain registration at your domain registrar. You'll also need to have a hosting subscription with HostMySite.

HostMySite Primary Name Servers

  • ns1.hmsns.com (76.12.198.76)
  • ns2.hmsns.com (76.12.204.12)
  • ns3.hmsns.com  (76.12.204.13)

You can manage DNS zones on these name servers through the Customer Control Panel. Log in and click the Hosted Domains & DNS Management link from the home page.

HostMySite Classic Name Servers

If you created your DNS zone before October 31, 2012 and haven't migrated to the name servers above, you're most likely hosted on the following name servers.

  • ns1.lnhi.net (204.12.76.1)
  • ns2.lnhi.net (65.36.160.56)
  • ns3.lnhi.net (65.36.160.18)

You can manage DNS zones on the classic name servers through the Customer Control Panel. Log in and click the Classic Control Panel tab. From there, click Domain Name Administration and then DNS Administration.
