Understanding Automatic User Discovery and Forcing Quarantine Creation in Spam Experts

Posted by on December 10 2013 12:12 PM

Spam Experts is designed so that you don't have to spend your time managing it and your users. Whether your Spam Experts account is new, or you are adding new email users to your mail server, Spam Experts will 'discover' new email users on its own.

That being said, it may take a little time for Spam Experts to receive a message it considers spam. Once it does, it then creates a quarantine in which to store this spam.  If you have Automatic reporting enabled under the Periodic User Report section of the Spam Experts web interface, the user who was listed as the recipient of the spam message will be listed, and will start receiving daily or weekly quarantine summaries. Emails sent to a user that Spam Experts considers not-spam are not enough to trigger the automatic quarantine creation and user account. It takes an actual spam message coming in for the auto-discovery to be triggered.

Forcing Quarantine Creation

  • To view the existing users who receive spam quarantine summaries, you can select the "Periodic User Report" link under the Protection Report section of the Spam Experts web interface.

  • If a user has not yet been displayed under 'Periodic User Reports' you can typically force the creation of that user account by sending it a GTUBE string spam message. Please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GTUBE for the string to use. It is as simple as sending an email to the desired user with that string in the body of the message.
  • Once created, the user will receive a welcome email from Spam Experts, letting them know they will now receive regular quarantine summary emails and that they can go to https://www.spamlogin.com to gain access to their new account.

Manually Creating Users

  • Domain Administrators can also manually create Periodic User Report accounts and control panel access accounts.
  • From the Periodic User Report page, click "Add a Recipient".

  • Enter the address of the user to add, enter an email address to which the reports will be delivered, select either daily or weekly as the report's frequency, select the language desired, and select a format of the report (HTML or PDF). Click Enable once all fields are completed. This user will start receiving reports of any received spam emails, and will now be able to log in to the Spam Experts web interface to manage their user-specific settings or quarantines.
