Hosted Exchange DNS Records

Posted by on March 29 2013 03:41 PM

If you have any Microsoft Exchange accounts with HostMySite, and your name servers are set to ns1.hmsns.com, ns2.hmsns.com, and ns3.hmsns.com, then these records should automatically propagate for you in the control panel under Hosted Domains & DNS Management.

If you have your domain's name servers with another company and want to use our Hosted Exchange servers, you will need to set up the following records so that mail delivers correctly to our servers:

Type Name Priority (MX only) Record data TTL
TXT yourdomain.com. - v=spf1 redirect=my.hostmysite.com 3600
CNAME autodiscover.yourdomain.com. - autodiscover-redirect.myexchangeemail.com. 3600
MX yourdomain.com. 10 mail.d#####.exch.instanturl.net. 3600

Note: d##### will change depending on your individual account.  The number after the 'd' is your subscription ID, which can be found from your Home tab on the control panel.  You should see it listed on the top left in this format:  Hosted Exchange (yourdomain.com) (ID:1054141)

Please note that this is only to be used if you don't have a split-domain, and you are ONLY using Exchange for all email addresses on your domain.  If you have to split the domain with some users in Exchange and some in another mail system, please see this article.
