Change Where Your DNS is Hosted

Posted by on September 12 2012 12:32 PM

When you register your domain with HostMySite, you have the option of hosting your DNS with us, or with another provider. You can switch the domain from an external provider to internal (with HostMySite) at any time with a few steps in the control panel. You can, also, change what HostMySite subscription your DNS is associated with by following this article in its entirety.

This article assumes that you are already familiar with how to log in to the customer control panel. If you do not know how to log in or have forgotten your password, please refer to this article first.

I. Change Your DNS to be Hosted Elsewhere:

  • On the control panel Home tab, click "Manage Website" under the Websites section.

  • Click on the DNS tab.

  • Click the "Change DNS Hosting to External" button.

  • Click the Finish button to finalize the change. Please note that this will not delete the existing DNS records in the zone, but it will disable the records, so they are not accessible from external locations. You will no longer be able to manage DNS records for your domain via the HostMySite Control Panel.

  • On the control panel Home tab, click "Manage Website" under the Websites section.
