How to Install SSL Certificates in cPanel

Posted by on September 04 2015 04:12 PM

The SSL/TLS Manager will allow you to generate SSL certificates, certificate signing requests, and private keys. These are all parts of using SSL to secure your website. SSL allows you to secure pages on your site so that information such as logins, credit card numbers, etc are sent encrypted instead of plain text. It is important to secure your site’s login areas, shopping areas, and other pages where sensitive information could be sent over the web.

  • In your web browser, open and log in to your cPanel control panel.
  • From the cPanel home page, click "SSL/TLS" in the Security section.

  • You will need to either generate or upload an existing key, CSR, and certificate. To do so, you can click the appropriate link labeled "Generate, view, upload, or delete..."

  • To upload an existing file, scroll down to the Upload section. You can either paste in the text content from the file, or browse your local computer for it. Once entered, click Save or Upload, depending on which option you chose (pasting text or browsing files).

  • Click "Return to SSL Manager" once uploaded. Then, repeat for your other certificate items.

  • Click Manage SSL Sites under "Install and Manage SSL for your site (HTTPS).

  • Select your domain from the drop down menu, then click "Autofill by Domain" to pull in the key and certificate that were just uploaded.

  • Scroll down and click "Install Certificate" to complete the installation.
