You may want to protect a directory if there is information that you want to make available only to a select number of people. You can do this by password protecting this specific folder on your website. This will add an extra layer of protection to files you do not want the general public to have access to. This article assumes that you are already familiar with how to log in to the customer control panel. If you do not know how to log in or have forgotten your password, please refer to this article first. Password protection on a Windows subscription consists of three parts: Creating a virtual directory to the folder Creating a service user who can access the folder Removing anonymous access to the folder With all three of these completed, the next time you visit this folder in a web browser, you should be prompted to log in with the service user credentials you have created. If you wish to password protect the entire site, you will only need to do step two and three (create the service user and remove anonymous access).
