How to Create a Windows Service User

Posted by on September 02 2015 05:07 PM

Windows hosting plans allow for creation of users that can manage various resources installed with the plan, such as email, Spam Experts, FTP, or IIS website management.

This article assumes that you are already familiar with how to log in to the customer control panel. If you do not know how to log in or have forgotten your password, please refer to this article first.

  • On the control panel Home tab, click "Manage Users" under the Service Users section.

  • Click "Add New Service User".

  • Enter a display name, login, and password. For your login name, you will need to select a domain from the drop down menu. Select the service(s) this user should have access to. Then, click Next.

  • If you selected WebMatrix publishing on the previous screen, you will have the ability to check boxes for each domain to which the service user will have publishing access. If you did not select WebMatrix publishing on the previous screen, you will only be able to click Next.

  • Click Finish to create the user. Please allow a few minutes for provisioning to complete before the login is ready for use.
