Q: What is Azure?
A: Azure is Microsoft’s cloud computing platform, which provides you the ability to create and manage virtual machines on the fly. Azure also provides the ability to seamlessly upgrade or downgrade resources with the click of a button.
Q: What is the "Cloud"?
A: The "cloud" refers to software and services that run over the internet, instead of storing and accessing things locally on your computer's hard drive. Most cloud services can be accessed through a web browser. The advantage of the cloud is that you can access your information on any device from any location, as long as you have an internet connection. Another benefit of the cloud is that, because the remote servers are doing all the work, you don’t necessarily need an expensive, robust computer at home to get things done.

Q: How is my usage for Azure billed?
A: Azure plans allow you to pay for only what you use in a given month. Your Azure subscription will generate an invoice on the first of each month. This invoice will take into account all usage on all resources for the previous month, such as RAM, CPU, and Disk usage.
Q: Why do I have to pay a fee to sign up if the billing is based on usage? I haven't used anything yet!
A: When you place your Azure plan order, a small fee is charged to your credit card. This charge helps to prevent fraudulent accounts from being ordered. The amount charged will remain as a credit on your account and will be applied to your first month's bill once it is generated.
