How to Check Smartermail Disk Space Usage in Webmail

Posted by Quinton Moore on October 03 2014 02:48 PM

All HostMySite customers receive 2GB (2048M) of email space at no extra charge with their hosting packages.  New accounts setup after 2012 can see their email usage on a per-user basis in the Control Panel under the Email tab, though ALL email accounts can view this information while logged in to webmail.  This article will show you how to find the disk usage reports for one user or for the entire email domain. If the user or the domain goes over the set limits, all mail will stop going in or out of the email account(s).

Single user disk space reports

Domain disk space reports

To see individual email space reports:

  • Log in to Smartermail webmail at http://mail.domainname.xyz
  • Go to Reports.  In Smartermail 5.5, this option is at the top of the page. In later versions (8+), it is located on the left side of the page.

  • Under My Reports, click on "Disk Usage".

  • Here you will see your user's mail disk space usage.

To see domain (All Users) disk space reports:

(Note: You must be logged into webmail with an email address that has Administrator access rights.)

  • Under Domain Summary Reports, expand Traffic Reports, then select "Disk Usage".

  • Here you will see all the users under your domain, how much email space they are using currently (Total Disk), and how much space they are allocated (Max Disk).  If you do not see an amount under Max Disk, this means the user is not limited and is allowed to use up to the total disk space on the domain (again, the default is 2 GB, though this can be changed on certain plan types).
