How to Configure an Autodiscover DNS Record for Exchange

Posted by on February 18 2013 03:08 PM

The Exchange Autodiscover service makes it easier to configure your email clients or devices to connect to your Exchange email account. This is done by configuring a special DNS record in your domain's DNS zone. Autodiscover is a function of Exchange which enables
automatic e-mail setup in supported e-mail clients, offline address book synchronization, free/busy calendar information, and out of office messages.

If your domain is using HostMySite's name servers for DNS management, this record is added to your zone automatically when Exchange is provisioned.

If you have your domain's name servers with another company and want to use our Hosted Exchange servers, you will need to set up the following record in your DNS zone:

Type Name Data TTL
CNAME autodiscover.yourdomain.com. autodiscover-redirect.myexchangeemail.com. 3600
